Europe 2024

Travelling through Europe felt like moving through multiple worlds in a matter of hours. High-speed trains and short flights made crossing borders effortless, with scenery shifting from rolling countryside to historic city centres almost instantly. Each destination had its own rhythm, language, and flavour, yet travel between them was smooth and well connected.

The biggest positive of a European trip was the diversity packed into a single journey. From centuries-old architecture to vibrant food scenes and walkable cities, every stop offered something distinct. The mix of history, culture, and modern life made Europe endlessly engaging and perfect for travellers who love variety.

London, England

My 2023 trip to London began with a smooth arrival into Heathrow, followed by navigating the city via the Underground. The Tube made it easy to move between neighbourhoods, and walking through the streets revealed layers of history mixed with modern city life. London felt busy but organised, with something happening on every corner.

The experience was rich and varied—from iconic landmarks like Big Ben and Tower Bridge to cosy pubs and bustling markets. The positives were the cultural depth, world-class museums, and the ease of getting around. London felt familiar yet constantly surprising, making it an exciting and comfortable place to explore.

Amsterdam, Netherlands

Arriving in Amsterdam by train in 2023 immediately set a relaxed tone for the trip. The city was easy to navigate on foot and by tram, with canals weaving naturally through everyday life. Cycling culture dominated the streets, giving the city a calm, local feel despite its popularity.

Exploring Amsterdam was about slowing down—wandering canals, visiting museums, and enjoying simple meals by the water. The positives were the walkability, friendly atmosphere, and balance between history and modern living. It was a city that felt lived-in, welcoming, and effortlessly charming.

Germany

Travelling through Germany in 2023 was defined by efficiency and comfort. High-speed trains connected major cities seamlessly, making it easy to move between destinations while enjoying clean stations and reliable schedules. The countryside views between cities added a peaceful contrast to urban centres.

Germany offered a strong mix of tradition and modern life. Historic town squares, castles, and beer halls blended with contemporary architecture and innovation. The positives were the organisation, quality food and drink, and how easy it was to explore without stress.

Austria

My time in Austria began with scenic train journeys through alpine landscapes, instantly making travel part of the experience. Cities like Vienna felt elegant and calm, with public transport making it easy to move between historic sites and neighbourhoods.

Austria’s charm lay in its balance—grand architecture, classical music heritage, and stunning natural surroundings. The positives were the relaxed pace, beautiful scenery, and sense of refinement that made every day feel thoughtful and unhurried.

Switzerland

Travelling through Switzerland in 2023 was nothing short of breathtaking. Trains ran like clockwork, winding through mountains, lakes, and picturesque villages. Even short journeys felt special thanks to panoramic views and incredibly well-designed transport.

The experience was peaceful and awe-inspiring, with nature always close by. The positives were the cleanliness, safety, and unmatched scenery. Switzerland felt polished and calm, offering a sense of escape and clarity that stayed long after leaving.

Italy

Italy welcomed me in 2023 with lively train stations, bustling streets, and an undeniable energy. Travelling between cities by train was straightforward, and walking became the best way to truly experience each place—getting lost often led to the best discoveries.

The highlights were everywhere: historic landmarks, passionate culture, and unforgettable food. The positives of Italy were its warmth, flavour, and character. Every city felt expressive and alive, making the trip feel immersive and emotionally rich.

Belgium

Belgium felt compact and easy to explore, with short train rides connecting cities effortlessly in 2023. Cobblestone streets, medieval buildings, and quiet canals gave the country a storybook quality from the moment I arrived.

The experience was relaxed and indulgent, especially when it came to food. The positives were the charm, rich history, and slower pace. Belgium was understated but deeply rewarding, perfect for travellers who enjoy detail and atmosphere.

Singapore

My 2023 trip to Singapore began with one of the smoothest airport arrivals I’ve ever experienced. Public transport was fast, clean, and incredibly intuitive, making it easy to move between neighbourhoods, attractions, and food hubs.

Singapore stood out for its balance of modern innovation and cultural depth. The positives were the safety, efficiency, incredible food scene, and lush green spaces woven into the city. It felt futuristic yet grounded, offering comfort, excitement, and variety all in one place.
